In the event that a reversal or non-delivery of carbon reductions or removals were to occur for any of the above listed projects, Commons would communicate this information to our users in a timely fashion. Commons would also engage in good faith efforts to seek one of the following remedies, though they are not guaranteed:
- Work with the credit provider to replace the reversed or undelivered credits with credits from a comparable project that meets our quality standards
- Request a refund from the credit provider so we could use the funds to purchase replacement credits from a comparable project that meets our quality standards
DISCLOSURES RELATED TO COMMONS' CLIMATE NEUTRAL CERTIFICATION
Commons is a Climate Neutral Certified brand in accordance with the The Climate Neutral Certified Standard (2023 version) administered by the Change Climate Project. We collaborated with the Change Climate team to measure our brand’s total 2023 carbon footprint, set time-bound Reduction Action Plans, and compensate for our annual emissions by investing in carbon projects that met Change Climate’s rigorous Standard. For further details, see our Climate Neutral certification page.
As part of this certification process, the Commons team estimated our company emissions following the guidance of The Climate Neutral Certified Standard and the GHG Protocol’s Corporate Standard via the use of an internally created tool. The Change Climate Project’s team reviewed, provided feedback on, and accepted these estimates, but they were not third-party verified. Commons’ Emissions Reductions Plans do not constitute science-based targets. Commons used carbon credits from the Manoa REDD+ Project, Katingan Peatland Restoration and Conservation Project, and Delta Blue Carbon to offset our 2023 company footprint.
See above for offset project details.
