5 Sustainable Jeans Under $100

A sustainable pair of jeans uses more eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton or hemp and is made using non-toxic dyes and water-efficient processes. These practices sometimes increase the cost of the jeans.

We’ve curated a list of brands that are affordable but don't compromise on durability and sustainability.

Here are 5 brands where you can find a pair of jeans for less than $100:

Madewell Forever

Madewell Forever is Madewell's secondhand store offering preloved jeans starting at $35. This initiative keeps used jeans out of landfills and extends their lifespan. Madewell partners with thredUP, an expert in secondhand clothing, to assess the condition of the jeans before listing them. According to its estimates, wearing a secondhand pair of jeans 10 times saves the equivalent of 637 glasses of drinking water, 142 hours of LED light power, and 0.66 miles of driving emissions.

Boyish Jeans

Boyish, a Climate Neutral certified brand, offers denim options under $100. Its jeans are designed for end-of-life recycling and use sustainable materials like TENCEL™ Lyocell, REFIBRA blend recycled cotton, and deadstock fabric that would otherwise end up in landfills. Instead of harmful synthetic dyes, Boyish opts for plant-based alternatives. The brand is certified by The Organic Content Standard, which tracks and verifies the content of organically grown materials in final products. Check out their Rayo jeans collection, featuring upcycled denim made with OCS-certified organic cotton and Tencel™ Lyocell.

Levi’s SecondHand

Who doesn't love Levi's denim? Sometimes, though, they're a bit too pricey. Enter Levi's SecondHand, which sells vintage Levi's jeans for as low as $25. Buying secondhand keeps jeans in circulation and saves clothing from landfills. According to Levi's, customers who buy, trade, and sell secondhand Levi's items contribute to a 53% average reduction in CO2e emissions compared to new purchases. Since denim sizes vary by decade, Levi's has created a guide to help customers find their size across eras, preventing unnecessary back-and-forth that could cause more emissions.

Warp + Weft

Warp + Weft is a size-inclusive denim brand offering jeans starting at $78. They provide a wide range of options in terms of size, fit, and denim type. The brand uses recycled and regenerative materials, including cotton certified by the Better Cotton Institute (BCI) and Cotton USA™, as well as Tencel™ Lyocell — a botanic fiber made from beech tree wood. Partnering with Recover™, they break down textile waste from landfills and transform it into recycled fibers for new jeans. Warp + Weft uses sustainable dyes such as Dystar Liquid Indigo, and their factories primarily run on solar energy. While a typical pair of jeans requires 1,500 gallons of water to produce, the brand claims theirs use less than 10.

thredUP

thredUP is an online secondhand clothing marketplace with a wide range of jeans. You can filter thousands of preloved options by brand names, sizes, fit, and prices. Some jeans are available for as low as $10, but these are mostly from fast fashion brands and may not last long. If you increase your budget to $20, you'll start seeing secondhand jeans from more durable brands like Levi's.
